Fine Art Trade Guild

Made in Suffolk – The Ed Sheeran Exhibition.

We were thrilled to be asked to frame a vast amount of work for Ed’s hometown exhibition, celebrating his success in becoming one of the world’s biggest music stars. We were particularly excited to frame his original artwork which he created for his early album covers. We also had the privilege of framing hand written lyrics from some of his most famous songs including 'Castle on the hill'. What an honour!

Kiss & Tell: Rodin and Suffolk Sculpture
We were thrilled to frame four original pencil drawings by Suffolk’s John Constable for this wonderful show. These are some of the most prestigious works we have been asked to work on.This exhibition explored the tale behind the lovers in Auguste Rodin’s iconic life-size marble sculpture The Kiss and the work of literature that inspired it, Dante’s Inferno from The Divine Comedy. This monumental artwork, on loan from the Tate, is a significant piece in the history of sculpture. The exhibition took you on a journey to uncover one of the most enduring themes in art – the human figure.

Based in Ipswich, MF Gallery and Framing provides a comprehensive bespoke picture framing service for all types of artwork, needlework and memorabilia, specialising in both traditional and contemporary styles using the high quality methods and materials.

Our Ipswich art gallery comprises of original paintings and drawings, limited edition prints, glassware, bronze and ceramics from both local and international artists, providing Suffolk and East Anglia with a complete artistic and picture framing service.

As members of the fine art trade guild, we are proud to offer Ipswich, Suffolk and East Anglia a truly bespoke picture framing service used by thousands of customers in the local area and further afield. Our framing can be found in both private and public collections around the country, including the National Trust and Ipswich museums. We always endeavour to provide a frame which best suits the future surroundings and frames the piece perfectly, keeping a close relationship with both traditional and up and coming picture framing styles and fashions.

As an artist and interior design enthusiast I know how important the finishing touches can be, meaning the consultation process is extremely important in providing the correct framing for you. We aim to work up a relationship with the customer to get a true feeling of which direction and look to head for.

All our work is produced onsite in our workshop in Ipswich to the very highest standards and with conservation materials, using both traditional and modern methods. Hand finished mouldings, hand cut mounts and deep rebate box framing are but some of our huge repertoire of techniques. Whether it be an oil painting, a tapestry, medals, or a football shirt, you can be sure that we will provide all the technical and design advice required to make your picture frame look a million dollars.

You name it, we will frame it!

The art gallery, at our same Ipswich site, holds works from both local and international artists who use all manner of different styles and techniques. We are always keen to find new, local Suffolk talent and help to promote them through exhibiting at the Gallery.

Owen studied Art and Design at Northgate High School, received a foundation Degree in Art and Design from Suffolk College and Graduated in 3D Design and Craft in 2011 from Colchester Institute. His own work comprises of both modern and traditional styles ranging from local landscapes to Ben Nicholson and Jackson Pollock inspired modern works, primarily in the medium of oils and mixed media. They have been exhibited in art galleries such as The Cinema Gallery (Aldeburgh), The Angel Gallery (Lavenham) and Vintage 46 (Wickham Market). His framing career started in 2003, and he has since expanded his knowledge to become one of the most skilled and knowledgeable framers in East Anglia, with his own interest in the arts helping to provide fresh picture framing ideas. He has also dabbled in jewellery design, ceramics (both hand built and thrown) and fused glass.

As a side-line, Owen has a keen interest in theatre. He has played many roles with companies such as IODS Theatre Company, Gallery Players and Coop Juniors in both the Regent Theatre and The New Wolsey Theatre. These include ‘Lumiere’ in Beauty and the Beast (Regent Theatre), Ali Hakim in ‘Oklahoma’ (Regent Theatre), Corny Collins in ‘Hairspray’ (New Wolsey Theatre), Fagin in ‘Oliver!’ (New Wolsey Theatre), Gomez Addams in ‘The Addams Family’ (New Wolsey Theatre/Spa Pavilion) and Motel in ‘Fiddler on the Roof!’ (New Wolsey Theatre). He is the publicity manager and set designer for IODS. He is also a member of the production team for their annual sell out Christmas production ‘Sounds like Christmas’ which plays at St Peters by the Waterfront every December. With running the business and regular rehearsals when performing, his schedule is always busy, but he wouldn’t want it any other way!
