The art gallery, at our same Ipswich site, holds works from both local and international artists who use all manner of different styles and techniques. We are always keen to find new, local Suffolk talent and help to promote them through exhibiting at the Gallery.
Owen studied Art and Design at Northgate High School, received a foundation Degree in Art and Design from Suffolk College and Graduated in 3D Design and Craft in 2011 from Colchester Institute. His own work comprises of both modern and traditional styles ranging from local landscapes to Ben Nicholson and Jackson Pollock inspired modern works, primarily in the medium of oils and mixed media. They have been exhibited in art galleries such as The Cinema Gallery (Aldeburgh), The Angel Gallery (Lavenham) and Vintage 46 (Wickham Market). His framing career started in 2003, and he has since expanded his knowledge to become one of the most skilled and knowledgeable framers in East Anglia, with his own interest in the arts helping to provide fresh picture framing ideas. He has also dabbled in jewellery design, ceramics (both hand built and thrown) and fused glass.
As a side-line, Owen has a keen interest in theatre. He has played many roles with companies such as IODS Theatre Company, Gallery Players and Coop Juniors in both the Regent Theatre and The New Wolsey Theatre. These include ‘Lumiere’ in Beauty and the Beast (Regent Theatre), Ali Hakim in ‘Oklahoma’ (Regent Theatre), Corny Collins in ‘Hairspray’ (New Wolsey Theatre), Fagin in ‘Oliver!’ (New Wolsey Theatre), Gomez Addams in ‘The Addams Family’ (New Wolsey Theatre/Spa Pavilion) and Motel in ‘Fiddler on the Roof!’ (New Wolsey Theatre). He is the publicity manager and set designer for IODS. He is also a member of the production team for their annual sell out Christmas production ‘Sounds like Christmas’ which plays at St Peters by the Waterfront every December. With running the business and regular rehearsals when performing, his schedule is always busy, but he wouldn’t want it any other way!
